POSITION SUMMARY:
Allegheny Health Network is rolling out an Operational Excellence program across the seven hospitals as well as the Physician Organization and Corporate Services. Currently there is a team of lean coaches that are training and deploying lean daily management throughout the AHN system. We are seeking an experienced individual to provide day to day leadership support and to begin planning for and executing on the next component of the strategy. This includes advanced problem solving training, development of standardized assessment tool to capture the value of these initiatives and supporting the executive management team in the growth of this management system throughout our system.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: (MAJOR FUNCTIONS)
- Provide daily leadership to the lean coaches at all facilities. This includes coaching the coaches as well as assessing the needs and gaps in the middle management at each hospital. Attending the C Suite huddles and helping to support and advance the overall tenets of the Operational Excellence management system.
- Provide direct coaching to the executive leadership team at each facility. This person would attend C Suite huddles throughout the AHN system and be able to support the work of executive leaders and how that work relates to the efforts on the front line.
- The Director would be responsible to evaluating initiatives and providing analytics that show the quantifiable value. This includes providing monthly executive summaries to management throughout the organization. With a goal of saving a multiple of the cost of the program, having reliable cost benefit analysis is important.
- The Director will develop and propose an annual strategy and vision for Operational Excellence based on the assessment and needs of the organization.
- The Director will provide an education plan in conjunction with the VP of Organizational Development so that, as a learning organization, the Operational Excellence Management system will have a planned mechanism for training the organization that is consistent with the broader organizational development plan for AHN.
EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- 7 or more years of experience in lean / six sigma or other related disciplines
- Experience running a program in a multi-hospital system environment
- Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Operational Excellence or masters in a clinical program with lean operations experience
- Black Belt or Master Black Belt preferred or concentrated learning in lean discipline (e.g. Toyota Production System)
