Allegheny Health Network’s clinical expertise ranges from primary care to the most complex surgical procedures.  Services include cancer diagnosis and treatment, cardiovascular care, neurological and neurosurgical services, organ transplantation, orthopedic and rehabilitation services, and women’s health.

 

Department: Sterile Processing

Status: Full-time, 40 hours per week

Shift: Rotating shifts, primarily evenings with rotating weekends and holidays

 

Job Summary: Receives, reprocesses, distributes and stores patient care equipment and instrumentation.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Transports soiled equipment and performs decontamination and disinfection functions utilizing automated equipment and manual cleaning.
  • Appropriately operates sterilizers in a manner consistent with regular requirements and manufacturer's recommendations.
  • Inspects, audits, and assembles surgical instrument sets and medical devices utilized in the Operating Room and other patient care areas of the hospital. Assembles surgical case carts accurately and efficiently.
  • Processes requests for patient care equipment received via computerized system and by telephone.
  • May contact outside vendors for delivery of rental patient care equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

 

Requirements:

  • CRCST eligible or CRCST preferred. Willing to pursue a CRCST certificate after one year of experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Enrollment in a surg tech/sterile processing program preferred
  • Sterile processing or 6 months hospital experience preferred
