Job Summary: Responsible for providing leadership over the financial management of Allegheny General Hospital. Provides direct financial and operational analysis for medical and administrative management to support decision making and improve performance of assigned Hospital(s).Provides guidance related to strategic plans. Focuses on financial reporting, budgeting, revenue cycle, and compliance matters.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Provides broad financial and business leadership as an integral part of the executive leadership team.
  • Provides support to the executive team to ensure ongoing compliance with fiscal goals.
  • Develops short and long-term financial plans and identifies financial opportunities to improve organizational performance. Responsible for budgeting and capital planning to support business objectives. 
  • Prepares,presents, and interprets financial reports to management, the Board, and external agencies.
  • Develops and implements policies, procedures, and systems for the hospital(s) overall financial health.
  • Establishes and maintains adequate systems of internal controls by documenting and reviewing the controls and  recommending/implementing changes as appropriate. Supports the System month-end close review, trending reports and volume analysis.
  • Performs all steps necessary relative to hiring, evaluating, promoting, disciplining, and discharging employees by following established HR policies.
  • Reviews and analyzes cost performance including staff productivity, supply utilization, administrative costs, variances to budget, etc. Monitors and measures performance against internal and external benchmarks.
  • Achieves agreed upon financial and operational goals. Represents the finance function by participating on committees, task forces, work groups, and multidisciplinary team as necessary.
  • Supports the System Revenue Cycle by providing leadership over revenue cycle and other operational areas including active participation in revenue cycle denial management, revenue capture, supporting managed care contract terms, and other related responsibilities as assigned by the System CFO.
  • Assists the Chief Compliance Officer by serving as the Compliance Liaison for the location. Maintains or improves compliance awareness at the location. Works closely with the Corporate Director Compliance and the Director Internal Audit on investigations and internal control matters to ensure timely implementation of corrective action plans. Provides oversight to Privacy Liaison functions in accordance with the Board approved "compliance Liaison Function" document.
Requirements:
  • BA/BS Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; Master's Degree preferred.
  • CPA, CMA preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in financial healthcare management position; a thorough knowledge of GAAP and awareness of continuing changes that affect financial reporting; a proven track record of initiative and follow through in developing and managing financial processes, systems, and controls; strong technical and analytical skills and be adept at communicating ideas and facts, packaging information and concepts in a way that increases understanding by others; be a proven team builder with the ability to develop and motivate others as well as create well-defined goals for self and others; ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
