Job Summary:
 

Provides leadership and direction for professional practice and education with respect to the AHN Focus 5: quality and safety, growth and access, patient experience, financial stability and people. Also responsible for driving strategic and operational initiatives within the organization including the following: implementation of professional practice model, leading the magnet journey in conjunction with magnet coordinator , provide oversight to the hospital based educators, active collaboration with local universities and oversight of the nurse residency program at the local level.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Leads all professional practice and educational components for nursing within the assigned hospital including development, implementation and evaluation of activities. Monitors, controls and is accountable for maintaining departmental costs within budgeted allocations.
  • Analyzes recommended practice changes and education activities to determine the overall value to the hospital to ensure implementation of cost effective alternatives that promote quality improvement. Actively participates in the review and identification of opportunities for improvement in nurse quality indicators as measured by NDNQI.
  • Provides guidance to hospital leaders as the organization embarks/continues on the magnet journey.
  • Actively participates in the development and communication of nursing's shared vision.
  • Serves as an educational consultant for leadership and education staff in areas of program development, clinical practice, regulatory compliance, professional development and other assigned committee work.  Accountable to assure ongoing development and operation of Shared Governance model in all nursing departments.
  • Analyzes clinical service areas for operational effectiveness using dashboards and other data sources.

 

 Requirements:

  • Current PA RN license in good standing required
  • Master's degree in Nursing required. Doctorate preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years advanced practice, teaching and/or education development required.
  • 3 years’ experience managing and leading educational programs in a health care setting preferred
