Medical Assistant
1. Provides support with daily activities in the medical practice such as telephone coverage, appointment scheduling, patient registration/discharge, collecting copays, and medical records functions. Greets and directs patients and visitors. 2.Cleans and sterilizes instruments. Inventory and restocks medical supplies, maintaining appropriate quantity of supplies
3.Performs clerical office functions: Follows scope of care of Medical Office Associate for clerical duties.
4.Performs proper documentation in EHR by following SVMG standards
5.Accurately documents all patient interaction at time of encounter
6.Performs in house testing following department standards and policies,
7. Accurately performs EKG’s and in house lab testing
8. Assists in coordination of patient care under supervision of physician. Assist providers with examination and procedures and notifies patients of test results under the direction of provider
9. Accurately calls in or electronically sends/ prints prescription refills under the supervision of the provider
10.Schedules referral appointments, testing and diagnostic procedures as ordered by providers and prepares all necessary forms and referrals/ authorizations.
11.Maintains proper rooming standards, following workflows by EHR and office standards.
12. Accurately obtains vital signs. Accurately documents patient history, medication reconciliation,( per office protocol ), reason for visit, and allergies with the patient at the time of the visit. Prepares exam rooms for patient visit
13. Prepares patient record for visit by ensuring all necessary documents and forms are available to provider.
Required IDX,Touchworks EHR Preferred: Microsoft Outlook
Computer Skills Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
Reasoning Ability Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Mathematical Skills Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
Language Skills; MEDICAL ASSISTANT DIPLOMA; MA CERTIFICATION upon hire or must obtain within 6 months of hire date; MA office experience.
