Location: Allegheny Valley Hospital with travel once a week to West Penn
Job Summary: Performs all components of the registration process for physician practice(s), using electronic medical records for all aspects of job. May assist healthcare providers in providing proper medical care to patients. Represents Allegheny Health Network in a professional manner.
Responsibilities:
• Performs department check-in/check-out procedures, including cash collections, reconciliation, obtaining authorizations, referrals and obtaining required regulatory documentation. Explains financial requirements to patients/guarantors. Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements.
• Conducts patient interview, pre-registers/registers, collects demographic and financial data. Conducts follow up as necessary.
• Answers telephone calls, schedules appointments, takes messages, and routes electronic messages or calls to the appropriate parties.
• May room and interview patients to obtain health and physical information. May perform and record patient height and weight measurements.
• Utilizes various software and online verification systems for screening and to obtain authorization and referrals and required regulatory documentation. Completes documentation according to all regulatory agencies, including HIPAA.
• Performs clerical and administrative functions such as scanning, preparing correspondence, filing, sorting mail, data entry, faxing, and copying.
• Performs other duties as assigned, including, but not limited to orienting new employees.
• May require travel to various satellite offices to support physician(s).
Requirements:
• Licensure/ Driver's license may be required.
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a dynamic and challenging environment and take appropriate actions.
• 1 year experience in medical registration, billing, or other related experience preferred.
Travel to West Penn once a week required
