Position at Allegheny Clinic

The Allegheny Health Network (AHN) Neuroscience Institute, Cerebrovascular Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center is seeking (2) vascular neurologists to become members of our growing multidisciplinary team of vascular neurologists (3), neurointerventionalists (3) and cerebrovascular surgeons (3).  We are seeking one (1) interventional vascular neurologist and one (1) non-interventional vascular neurologist with strong interests in clinical care, research, education and quality improvement.  You will be part of an elite group of cerebrovascular specialists who collaborate in the cerebrovascular center which serves as a national and regional referral center for patients with complex stroke.

Both vascular neurologists will be a central part of the Cerebrovascular Center based at Allegheny General Hospital which has been a Joint Commission Certified Advance Comprehensive Stroke Center since 2012 and serves as the quaternary referral center for Allegheny Health Network which is comprised of seven hospitals including four Primary Stroke Centers. 

Responsibilities of the Interventional Neurologist will include the full spectrum of neurointerventional care integrated into a team of multidisciplinary neurointerventionalists, inpatient Stroke Service, telestroke, and clinical research. 

Responsibilties of the Clinical Vascular Neurologist will include inpatient Stroke Service, outpatient stroke clinic, telestroke, and clinical research.

  • We have both neurology and neurosurgery residencies providing an excellent environment for teaching and clinical research.
  • Clinical research trials and original investigative research with the support of two (2) clinical research coordinators through the Allegheny Singer Research Institute and potential for research collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University.
  • Two state-of-art biplane Cerebral Angiography units.
  • Neuro-intensive Care Unit (23 beds) and Stroke Telemetry Unit (25 beds).
  • State of the Art Telestroke services, PACS and Electronic Health Record.
  • Level I trauma center and air medical transport program (LifeFlight).
  • Newly constructed State of the Art Surgical Arts Center for courses and simulation
  • Two Advanced Practice Nurses (CRNP) who provide support of both outpatient care and inpatient navigators.

Requirements  - Pennsylvania license for eligible, Board-certified or eligible in Neurology with Added Qualifications in Vascular Neurology, Fellowship training in the applicable specialist field. J1Visa candidates will also be given consideration.
