Job Summary
:
Performs EKG's as well as holter monitoring, holter scanning, and assists with cardiac stress tests. Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares the patient and performs EKGs according to procedure, e.g., attaches, connects, and operates electrodes from specified body areas to leads from electrocardiograph machine.
  • Performs Holter scanning according to procedure; demonstrates skills to apply holter monitors to patients for 24 hour observation; provides thorough instruction to patient regarding the procedure and care of the monitor.
  • Maintains records of EKGs, stress tests, and holter monitors as well as the files and reports; prepares data for physician analysis and interpretation; mails/sends reports or other documents as required.
  • Maintains adequate supplies for efficient operations; cleans and maintains equipment; ensures proper working order; and reports any malfunctions.
  • Assists in scheduling exams; answers phones; greets patients; and provides information and/or directions.
  • Responsible for answering questions, and for identifying and defining problems related to daily work occurrences. Employee may also resolve these problems using pre-defined policies, procedures, and practice. When issues arise outside the scope of responsibility, supervisory personnel must be consulted.

Requirements:

  • EKG and holter training preferred.
  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
