Job Summary:

Performs a variety of routine and/or complex laboratory procedures on clinical research specimens; displays a mastery of laboratory techniques, principles, and instrumentation; correlates data required to provide quality information used by physician in the research and development of clinical processes.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs laboratory testing on specimens according to departmental protocol while complying with hospital and department policies regarding safety and infection control.
  • Displays mastery of laboratory techniques, principles, and instrumentation.
  • Independently performs all tasks related to the execution of research as defined by the physician/investigator.
  • Operates, calibrates, checks, and maintains instrumentation.
  • Participates with the review and monitoring of quality control and quality assurance records.
  • Demonstrates proper care and handling of laboratory animals.
  • Participates in continuing education to ensure growth and development of the laboratory.
  • Monitors and evaluates laboratory inventory.

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS Degree in Medical Technology, Biology, or related science required.
  • Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment & the ability to work with minimal supervision in a challenging environment.
  • Follows Standard Precautions and/or other appropriate precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One year experience in a research laboratory environment preferred.
