JOB SUMMARY:

The Manager, Clinician Compensation provides leadership, direction and ongoing administration and management of all aspects of clinician compensation and productivity reporting.  The Manager provides leadership and competency to ensure efficient and effective administration of clinician payments, compliance with legal regulations and financial reporting. This position oversees the clinician compensation plan and review process throughout the organization and the development and oversight of clinical productivity reporting at the provider and leadership level. This position will work with leaders across the organization to understand key business issues and performance drivers, always looking for opportunities for improvement.  

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages the development, implementation and review process for all provider compensation. Oversees the administration of the physician compensation plan, while coordinating with the legal department to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and prepare physician compensation calculations.
  • Analyzes and interprets contractual agreements as negotiated and developed. Maintains all aspects of provider payroll which includes but are not limited to quarterly production bonuses based on quarterly analysis of production and various reimbursements related to dues and CME as outlined in contractual agreements.
  • Manages the accounting and reporting functions related to provider compensation including month-end close and annual budgeting. Performs monthly and quarterly reconciliations based on productivity and financial analysis for all providers.
  • Supports financial and compliance audits related to physician compensation. Performs benchmarking studies for physician productivity and clinic operations using internal and external data, including but not limited to MGMA surveys.
  • Serves as the physician compensation subject matter expect and advises and assists senior leadership and management on matters related to provider compensation, productivity and financial analysis. Supervises staff, resolves problems, and implements approved disciplinary action. Interviews, hires, trains, and conducts performance evaluations.
  • Mentor and influence managers and staff in a manner which emphasizes the importance of team work, collaboration, accountability, and the sharing of information, resources, and best practices amongst stakeholders across the organization. Manage defined goals, objectives and performance metrics and ensure follow through in a timely manner.   
  • Analyzes and prepares monthly reports for management on clinic operations staffing, physician productivity, and overall practice. Maintains the system databases related to provider productivity, compensation and operations.
  • Educates managers, directors, and providers on provider compensation, productivity and quality metrics. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree, majoring in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or other related field. Master in Business Administration and CPA certification is a plus.

Required Experience:
 Two to three years of professional accounting experience and a minimum of 5 years progressive experience in a multi-specialty healthcare group practice in finance or clinical operations.. Position requires proficiency with Microsoft Excel, demonstrated leadership skills and abilities including management of staff, projects, and budgets, knowledge of accounting, tax, deferred compensation, and other regulations affecting clinician compensation, proven skills in analyzing qualitative and quantitative information to reach sound conclusions, and an ability to collaborate and build effective relationships with staff, clinicians and leadership throughout the organization.

  12. Working knowledge of payroll systems with a financial background.
