Job Summary
: Functions in the expanded role as a professional nurse, performs acts of medical diagnosis or prescription of medical therapeutic or corrective measures in collaboration with and under the direction of a physician licensed to practice medicine.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assesses, evaluates, and intervenes in the physical, mental, and developmental health of the patient through performance of enhanced physical assessment using patient/family interviews, observation, inspection, auscultation, palpation, and percussion.
  • Coordinates the plan of care within the area of specialty.
  • Discriminates between normal, normal variations, and abnormal deviations by specific screening tests and refers patient with abnormal finding to appropriate healthcare services.
  • Communicates with patient, family, interdisciplinary team and community health services as appropriate; including patient/family education.
  • Demonstrates effective leadership skills while contributing to Department, Division and Hospital goals.
  • Responsible for professional development.
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited PA State Nursing Board approved Master's or Post Master's nurse practitioner program; or have completed an approved program that was in existence prior to change in PA. Professional Nursing law 63PS (2002)

 

Education:

  • Licensure/ Current PA RN; plus meet the current requirements for state certification for a nurse practitioner in PA.

Certification/Registration:

  • Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment. Incumbent has the ability to identify patient care needs and begin to prioritize patient care needs with minimal supervision.

Complexity of Work:

  • Follows Standard Precautions and/or other appropriate precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Experience:

  • Two years RN experience in Cardiology strongly preferred.
