Job Summary: Performs continuous observation, identification of changes in rhythms and rates. and communication of cardiac rhythms for cardiology patients under the supervision of the RN. 

 
Job Responsibilities:

  • Accurately identifies rhythm and rate changes and communicates to RN. Prints ECG strips for interpretation by RN.
  • Maintains continuous assessment of ECG rhythm at central monitor and during patient transport. Identifies changes and responds or reports to the RN as appropriate.
  • Cleans and maintains telemetry monitors/holders and accounts for monitor upon patient discharge.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of central station and bedside monitors. Ensures alarms are maintained at appropriate levels and settings.
  • Performs other unit specific duties such as video monitoring, order entry and answering phones.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required. 

Requires:

  • BLS Certification required within facility policy. 
  • Basic cardiac dysrhythmia training and/or experience interpreting rhythms preferred.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in dynamic and rapidly changing environment and take appropriate actions.
