Job Summary:

  • Works with key stakeholders and senior leaders throughout AHN to identity analytics requirements, analyze clinical and operational problems and develop and execute a plan for effective analysis and presentation of the information.
  • Includes thinking beyond the immediate problem and assure that a comprehensive review of the data surrounding the problem is considered.
  • Will access multiple data platforms/sources and will be required to consolidate and normalize data.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop business intelligence solutions through detailed analytics requirements planning with stakeholder.
  • Access resources in the system to assess proper data sources and appropriate technologies given the requirements of a given assignment.
  • Develop reporting solutions using tools including Business Objects (Crystal, Universes,  etc), Microsoft BI stack (SSIS/SSRS/SSAS), Tableau and others where required to assure proper handling of the data and correct, timely, actionable reports.
  • Ability to understand the inclusion and exclusion needs and the effect of outliers on the results.
  • Adhere to industry best practice, data visualization standards and apply creative thought to the effective presentation of information for the benefit of the customer.
  • Determine the best approach for a given analytics problem considering the turnaround time, audience, consumption of the analysis and ongoing maintenance of the report/analysis.
  • Work with colleagues in the Business Intelligence team, as well as operations and clinical partners to develop solutions together that meet AHN’s analytic needs.
  • Utilize self-management techniques and teamwork, in partnership with PMs to assure strong execution, on-schedule delivery, and proper stakeholder buy-in and reporting throughout the assignments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in the areas of information science, mathematics, computer science, statistics, epidemiology or related field.
  • 7 years’ experience in reporting and analytics (healthcare setting highly preferable).
  • Proficient in the use of BI Tools including MS BI Stack, Tableau, Business Objects, SQL, etc  \for analysis of large data sets--often from disparate data sources including experience with graphing and other visualization techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop creative solutions to complex problems, ability to search out solutions and approaches to problems associated with the delivery of information in a patient care or hospital business environment, understanding of healthcare applications and terminology and patient care environments.
  • Ability to discuss problems with physicians, nurses and other clinicians as well as hospital executive and middle management to determine the nature and scope of problems and to work collaboratively to define and then scope and build an analytics solution.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's preferred.
  • Statistical or related advanced mathematics coursework or experience desirable but not required.
  • Clinical experience is desirable but not required.
