Job Summary: Responsible for providing care to those of chronic disease. The paramedic assists in disease management and transition of care to the home setting. The paramedic assists in education and understanding of disease processes, prescribed medications, and the use of medical devices that the patient will utilize in the home. Examples of understanding and use will include, recording of patient body weight, blood sugar, and blood pressure along with any other identified measurements to enhance healthy living.
Responsibilities:
- Multi-tasking relative to scheduled patient visits and providing needed. care/interventions in a timely manner.
- Patient assessment.
- Understanding of chronic disease.
- Knowledge of prescribed medications.
- Provides basic and advanced life support.
- Knowledge of medical documentation and computer programming/patient care data entry.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Requirements:
- PA certified paramedic with command privileges; CPR certification; ACLS; PA driver's license and auto insurance.
- Strong verbal skills that are clear and understandable to the elderly. Strength in compassion, empathy, and understanding to one's needs. Has knowledge in patient documentation. Highly skilled in the field of emergency medicine/patient care.
- Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
- 5 years experience required.
