Job Summary:

The Administrative Director of AHN CVI Research Programs is responsible for administrative oversight of all aspects of the cardiovascular research programming at the Allegheny Health Network, including its clinical, translational and outcomes-based research programming. All of the AHN Research Institute employees supporting CVI will report to the incumbent and will ensure that they are managed in line with the CVI's research agenda. The incumbent has solid line reporting to the operational leadership of the research institute and dotted line reporting to the CVI director and physician leadership team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Directly oversee clinical research operations of the CVI and all clinical research staff including research nurses, clinical research coordinators, as well as supporting data and regulatory staff. (30%)
  • Directly oversee translational research operations in CVI including administrative oversight for the research faculty and staff. Ensure that the translational programs are conducted within their budgets. (20%)
  • Directly oversee operational management and staffing of an outcomes-based database to support research interests of the CVI programs and faculty. (20%)
  • Participate in the development and management of annual budgets that ensure availability of appropriate resources to support AHN's CVI research initiatives. (10%)
  • Organize the operational structure of the CVI research staff to efficiently deploy staff and resource where and when they are needed and work with AHN's research administration and CVI Director to revise and optimize policies, procedures and protocols for rapidly and efficiently opening and closing research studies. (5%)
  • Assist in coordinating active research partnership programs with our external collaborators, adding diversity to the research opportunities available to faculty. (5%)
  • Represent CVI Research in CVI administrative meetings. (5%)
  • Develop and maintain CVI research dashboard. (5%) 

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or Business (Master's degree/MBA preferred)
  • 5 years managing aspects of a research operation (cardiovascular research preferred)
  • Complexity of Sound analytical ability with good judgment and strong operational focus to include strategic planning
