Seeking a full time RN to provide direct nursing care in the Allegheny Center for Digestive Health located in the North Shore, minutes from Allegheny General Hospital. Part of Allegheny Health Network, Allegheny Clinic.

We have offices and procedure locations conveniently located to serve the tri-state area. We provide care for patients with disorders of the liver, pancreas and gastrointestinal tract. Gastroenterologists, hepatologists, colorectal surgeons, bariatric surgeons, clinical nutritionists, gastroenterology nurses, dieticians, integrated medicine providers, transplant hepatologists, pyschologists and other specialists evaluate and treat adults using a multidisciplinary approach. All of our physicians treat a variety of disorders related to the digestive system.

Job Summary: 

  • Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, protocols, and standards for the physician practice(s).
  • Performs general nursing care in accordance with nursing and practice standards by collecting, assessing, and advising patients of health/illness information while meeting individual patient needs in collaboration with office physicians and extenders.
  • Initiates, monitors and revises interdisciplinary plan of care based on assessment findings and physician orders for the age appropriate population.
  • Serves as a care coordinator for office functions with relationship to direct patient care utilizing practice management systems incorporating quality measures. Functions as a practice liaison to obtain authorizations and referrals for patient testing and specialist visits.
  • Provides ongoing and appropriate teaching to patients and families to effectively guide them across the continuum of care.
  • Supports the development of students, new staff and colleagues, may serve as a preceptor.
  • Triages patient telephone calls, provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician office visits.
  • Participates, develops, and implements performance and/or quality improvement initiatives. Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies.
  • May perform other duties such as managing outpatient concerns, performing procedures and testing, and any other duty specific to the practice specialty.
  • Travel to various satellite locations may be required.

Job Requirements:

  • Current PA RN license. 
  • Valid PA driver's license may be required.
  • Outpatient experience preferred.
  • Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment. Incumbent has the ability to identify patient care needs and prioritize workload based on patient care needs.
