Planning Director
Description
We are looking for a media professional who will be able to provide the strategic advice in relation to the production of quality media solutions. You will be responsible for playing a key role in the development of a touch point strategy for one of the client’s key products across Asia.

This role reports to Business Director.

Measures of success –
In three months, you would have:
- Gotten an understanding of the agency portfolio of clients.
- Come up to speed with MediaCom’s value proposition specific to the importance of the right social and digital approach
- Started to build relationships with the key decision makers within the client and agency organizations
- Formed an understanding of the client’s marketing strategy across China
In six months, you would have:
- Led your own set of accounts and be responsible for campaign optimization/ reporting.
- Met with clients and represent the agency as key contact person.
- Proven yourself as a reliable point of contact for client stakeholders
- Become a key pillar that your seniors and subordinates can rely on
In 12 months, you would have:
- Counseled clients, led accounts with minimal supervision
- Anticipated what is needed to stay on track to secure, grow and solidifying client relations, and to take action appropriately
- Played a key role in the development of a touch point strategy for one of the client’s key products across Asia
- Been part of negotiations for annual national/regional media partnerships
Main Responsibilities:
- Proactive management of the client’s expectations
- Make complex decisions
- Management of workflow
- Have regular dialogue with team members to exchange ideas, techniques and issues to encourage greater inter team communication.
- Contact with senior level of direct media owner to facilitate the development of initiatives.
- Build relationships with clients and agency counterparts.
- Develop budget recommendations.
- Development of detailed proposal plans to execute the agreed strategy – budget allocation by channel, media weights, phasing etc.
- In-depth knowledge of available research (in-house, client, other) and strategic analysis thereof to develop more effective media strategies.
- Group responsibility for all implementation briefs.
- Responsibility for efficient and accurate paperwork within the team.
- On-going response planning to all significant marketplace/internal changes.
- Ensure competitive reviews are properly executed and that they are strategically relevant for the client.
- Ensure that they demonstrate key learning/insights and contribute where necessary.
- Ensure that planned objectives are being monitored.
- Ensure all agreed reports are supplied and presented to clients on time.
- Continually think creatively and identify new, innovative opportunities that could be effectively used by clients.
- Be knowledgeable and analyze key developments/trends/issues in media. Present to clients and keep the rest of the team informed.
- Initiate own projects/analyses that would be of benefit to client (to be verified by Director in advance).
- Challenge thinking from clients, media vendors and other disciplines in a positive and constructive manner (always in line with the best interests for the client’s business and brands).
- Overall management of the Planning process (including the approval processes). Follow-through on projects from beginning to end, take full responsibility and lead the process.
- Train, develop and motivate junior team members
Requirements:
- 6-7 year working experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills both in English and Chinese
- Bachelor degree and above
- Excellent grasp of communications strategy with a full understanding of how advertising works and key advertising principles.
- A full understanding of clients’ business, competitors, customers and objectives and a sympathetic incorporation of these considerations into the communications strategy.
- Good organizational skills in handling a number of projects at the same time, being able to set priorities, keep to deadlines, work effectively under time pressure.
- A good rapport with colleagues across all divisions, clients, other agencies and media owners.
- Expertise in all relevant industry software and systems.
- Good team management skills and excellent on train, develop and motivate junior team members.
