Overview of job
As a Strategic Planning Manager, you will be responsible for fostering teamwork, ensuring best in class communications planning and media execution for an iconic, leading global sportswear brand in China. The aim is to build an integrated media strategy to address the overall communications, working within an integrated team of up to 15 people to negotiate, purchase, execute and track campaigns.

 

Reporting of the role

This role reports to the Strategic Planning Director.

Measures of success –
In three months:

  • To be able manage the team in putting together media plans from detailed spot plans, negotiating media buys to instilling a more creative thinking on how to use certain channels.

 

  • Also, to build a productive and strong relationship with the clients, measured in a quarterly client satisfaction survey.

 

In six months:

  • To be the recognized integrated media expert, execute “media first” innovations and be able to submit strong award entries.

 

In 12 months:

  • To make our client’s communications a global “best practice” within WPP, Mindshare and their own internal marketing and media organization

 

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Provide insightful and comprehensive communication solutions.
  • Confidently present and participate in client meetings in English and Mandarin, both having and articulating a clear POV.
  • Prioritize tasks and appropriately delegate to individual members of the team, ensuring they are given adequate time, resource and are sufficiently trained to execute tasks like reporting: campaign launch, campaign end, monthly & weekly with high quality and consistency.
  • Support the Director by delivering quality output in a timely manner and acting as a mentor to junior employees.
  • Continuously work with the team to arrive at the best process/systems for managing their business, for example, specialist teams/buying dept to promote clients’ interests with strategically important media owners

 

What you will need:

  • Have a complete understanding of not just the China media landscape, but also on the critical execution aspects involved in managing multiple campaigns simultaneously
  • Must have had exposure to and experience in the research, planning and implementation, tracking and reporting process.
  • You are a passionate and articulate individual who has strong selling skills
  • You have a strategic brain and numbers are a turn on!
  • You have good communication skills both ideally in English and Chinese, but for the right candidate we will work with just English.
  • You have an affinity for and understand sports … sports fans … fitness and more
  • Strong digital media knowledge and skills, and be inquisitive and interested in emerging trend and technology
  • Ability to use PowerPoint to an advanced level to create engaging documents suitable for presenting to clients and other key stakeholders.
  • High numeracy and attention to detail, and it’s nice to have the working experience of data analysis or performance buying background
  • Ability to work autonomously in a fast paced environment, prioritizing tasks where required and working under time pressures.
