MediaCom is looking for a Senior Production Director (SPD). This role will set the vision for the production offering of the future and ensure that we are delivering at world class levels today. The SPD will lead the formation of strategic partnerships across WPP and production suppliers with a commercially astute lens. The SPD will be client facing as the production expert and will consult, oversee and lead production of world class original advertising, content and experiential, media partnership editorial integration, native and creative technology with a focus on excellent organisation and communication.  The role combines leadership and hands on project and production management as required. Passion for and expertise in production techniques, kit and technology across all platforms is essential.

This role reports to the Head of MediaCom Beyond Advertising, Sydney

Measures of success:

In three months:

  • You will be leading the making of international TV series, social content, dynamic creative
  • You will be contributing to ideas in response to briefs and proactive
  • You may Direct, produce, edit, shoot – depending on your experience and desire
  • You will be assessing how we currently do things and offer a point of view on how we can do better

In six months:

  • You will have run a project that has taken us to a new level of production excellence and makes everyone you know in the industry jealous of your job.
  • You will be putting in place new processes, systems, suppliers and kit that drive us to a new level of amazingness.
  • You will be mentoring, coaching and training producers in the team

In 12 months:

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Set the benchmark in production process and management
  • Lead the development of optimum workflow management
  • Set the strategy for Commercial management and development across production area
  • Coaching ,training and mentoring to ensure best in class production offering

What you will need:

  • Deep understanding and ‘hands-on’ experience in content creation across all mediums, production and management;
  • Multi-market experience of creating and managing complex multimedia content
  • Proven track record, ability to lead large scale, multiple projects with accurate process and procedure;
  • Strong communications and organisational skills, both written and verbal;
  • Team and client focused;
  • Proven coaching, mentoring and leadership abilities;
  • Ability to interact with and make recommendations to senior management, internally and at client level;
  • Ability to sell in projects to key stakeholders;
  • In depth knowledge of the Australian Content landscape, local and international production companies, kit and techniques;
  • Strong negotiation skills and a proven track record in production management at all budget levels;
  • Versatile work style, being able to adapt to a variety of clients across categories and cultures;
  • Financially astute with track record of effective budget management and cost control;
  • Understanding and experience in financing and international TV programming sales,
  • Expert in production Legal and Insurance matters.
  • Minimum of 7 + years of working within content marketing production (advertising agency, production company etc). Must have some international knowledge and in depth up to date understanding of all regulatory matters.
  • A deep understanding of storytelling in minute and beautiful detail;
  • Exceptionally high level of experience and craft skills - have produced multiple short films, TVCs, film, TV, digital, print, experiential, creative technology, radio, cinema in a variety of roles.
  • A sound understanding of the media and creative agency landscape

An intro to MediaCom Beyond Advertising (MBA)

MediaCom Beyond Advertising sits at the heart of MediaCom: The Content + Connections Agency. Content only achieves its potential when it is designed, managed and integrated with every other element of a communications system. MBA is positioned around three core areas: content strategy, content creation and content distribution. Each team comprises experts in all forms of content.

Content Strategy is key to MBA’s alignment with the 20|20 proposition. This team will use the 3 ‘I’s framework (Inspire, Inform, Involve) to build strategies that shape the entire output of MBA. Its work will include content audits, insight and measurement.

 

Content Creation is the creative and production team. The creatives write, storyboard, design and develop brilliant creative ideas off the back of the strategy work undertaken by the Content Strategy team, while the multi-disciplined producers oversee production and project management. Content Creation works across all types of content, be it original content creation in video, digital, experiential and social content (such as always-on editorial and community management) or in commercial partnerships with a brand or media owner.

Content Distribution is focused on getting people to see, and to engage with, the content MBA produces. Content Distribution is predominantly made up of the SEO function but also other predominantly organic distribution methods such as influencer outreach.

With the silos broken down, all members of MBA must have a broad understanding of all the services we offer and can lucidly explain them to anyone who asks - be it planners, clients or industry contacts.
