Description
GroupM Data and Analytics R&D Group has multiple openings in Singapore for world-class researchers. We have openings at entry/junior level and experienced/senior level scientists as well as research intern positions. Data and Analytics Research is a relatively new field within GroupM and focuses on developing innovative methods to manage and analyze both aggregated and event-level data to help drive clients’ marketing objectives.
The data and analytics group in GroupM is responsible for managing and analyzing massive amounts of data as well as supporting the whole organization in delivering value from data. Our R&D positions provide the truly unique opportunity of performing data and analytics research over all data available from a campaign (by consolidating social media data, search data, display data, TV data, CRM data, etc.). Examples of research projects include large-scale optimization, natural language processing, agent based modelling and paid-owned-earned exploratory analysis.
Reporting of the role
This role reports to the Head of Global Product and R&D.

Measures of success –
In three months:
- You will be up to speed with GroupM R&D project(s) requirements, Data and Analytics Platform and have a good understanding of the overall workflow of R&D projects and processes.
- You will be working with other research scientists, data engineers, and business analysts to discover predictive insights, and translate them into improved decision making and performance outcomes.
- You will be fairly familiar with Big Data processing/machine learning/optimization in the cloud infrastructures.
- You will have completed 2 mini-projects which are designed to familiarize yourself with this industry, and utilizes your scientific and programming skills.
In six months:
- You will be leveraging on Big Data tools to build novel statistical and machine learning solutions, models and prototypes accurately and efficiently.
- You will be engaging with the relevant Product Managers to understand and prepare for potential technology transfer.
- You will be keeping up with recent advances in Big Data processing, machine learning and optimization.
- You will have started to build relationships with the key decision makers within the current pipeline.
In twelve months:
- You will have deep technical knowledge of the Data and Analytics tools and models, and the ability to conceive, architect and build key analytics components to suit our business needs and bring value to our customers.
- You will have published in top-tier conferences and journals, file patent disclosures when appropriate, and contribute towards the development of relevant applications.
- You will be working closely with key Product Managers and a multi-disciplinary team for potential matured research technology transfers into large-scale, high availability live production systems.
Responsibilities of the role:
- Broad application areas of data mining, machine learning, high performance computing and optimization
- Areas of interest include, but are not limited to: (1) applied statistics, data mining and machine learning; (2) distributed application service architecture for deployment on local or cloud infrastructures; and (3) computational large-scale linear, nonlinear and mixed-integer programming.
What you will need:
Deep expertise and significant accomplishments in one of the above areas and good understanding of data and analytics service delivery. We require a Ph.D. in a relevant field coupled with strong research background. Also have hands-on mindset and demonstrated knowledge and skills in an application domain that uses marketing or consumer related data.
