Overview of job
We are seeking a New Business Development Manager, to identify new client prospects, build and deliver proposals, close deals and turn prospects into clients, and to manage ongoing relationships with these new clients.
This account management work involves not only understanding our clients’ goals and objectives and building lasting relationships, but also understanding our products, our market, and how we can bring data-driven solutions for the benefit of our clients.
Reporting of the role
This person will be our primary point of contact new client relationships that we build outside WPP and across China. Thus, this is a senior-level position reporting directly to the CEO.
Job Location:
This job will be based in Shanghai, with occasional business-related travel to Hangzhou, Beijing, Guangzhou/Shenzhen/Hong Kong.
Measures of success –
Within the first three months:
- Take responsibility of Longbow’s non-WPP client relationships.
- Locate 3 new mid to large size client prospects and pitch Longbow.
- Propose and sell at least 5 projects, and close at least 2 of them.
Within the second three months:
- Maintain existing client relationships, and propose follow-on work for each.
- Locate 6 new mid to large size client prospects, and pitch Longbow.
- Propose at least 10 new projects, and close at least 4 of them.
Within the next six months:
- Locate 12 new mid to large size client prospects and pitch Longbow.
- Deliver 20 proposals for new work, and close at least 10 of them.
Responsibilities:
- Create and implement strategies for prospecting for new clients for Longbow products and services.
- Develop and implement strategies for penetrating key accounts, and maintain a high level of awareness for organizational changes, new developments, etc, inside our key accounts.
- Be able to clearly differential our position and product and be able to comfortably demonstrate our data solutions for potential clients.
- Lead sales pursuits for new business, coordinating with CEO and product management subject matter experts (within Longbow and within our key partners).
- Drive the process from prospecting, solution creation to closing deals. Oversee development of project proposals, and deliver proposal to clients and prospects. Oversee contracts, invoicing, and payment matters. Serve as primary bridge between Longbow and our clients, and remain involved in all matters.
- Maintain client relationships after each sale, strengthening them with relationship building, education of our products’ and our market’s innovations, and continued/ongoing project work.
What you will need:
- Bachelor's Degree; a degree in Marketing, Advertising, or a Data Related business would be a big plus.
- At least five years of new business development experience, preferably from DSP vendors, where the primary focus of the role was prospecting for and closing new business.
- This person must have done this same new business development job before; this is an absolute requirement, and resumes not meeting this qualification will not be considered.
- Demonstrated ability to engage in find, sell and close new business; to meet and exceed a sales quota on an ongoing basis.
- Some understanding of how data empowers marketing is important.
- This person should be with a Consultative Selling focus: the ability to think creatively and strategically, and to work your way around problems and roadblocks. Abilities to drive conversations with different stakeholders, ask probing questions, glean relevant information, develop your own points-of-view, and to document and interpret it for appropriate action.
- Self-starter, open to making mistakes, learning and helping the team.
