Position at GroupM

The SEO Manager role has been created as a result of strong growth in our client base throughout the last year, and to fulfil delivery of new projects starting this year. In addition to delivering client SEO services, specifically for a global B2C technology client, the SEO manager will be fully responsible for the continued growth and integration of the SEO team and its services into one of the GroupM agencies.


Reporting of the role

This role reports to the GroupM Head of Search Operations, Asia Pacific.

Measures of success –

In three months:

  • Take ownership of existing projects and clients.
  • Gain understanding of existing processes and tools to ensure successful deliver of client work.
  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders within assigned Agency
  • Train and further develop existing team members on advanced SEO strategy development.

In six months:

  • Deliver growth in Agency revenue towards meeting targets.
  • Build upon and improve efficiencies in developing client deliverables
  • Train and further develop existing team members on advanced SEO strategy development.

In 12 months:

  • Client retention and growth of Agency to meet and exceed revenue targets
  • Fully managing all assigned clients requiring only high level oversight from Director on client’s day-to-day activities.
  • Train and further develop existing team members on advanced SEO strategy development.

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Management and delivery of client SEO projects.
  • The role has full responsibility (traffic, conversions, ranking, and links) to drive growth of client’s website in the selected regions.
  • Be involved in all aspects of the search engine optimization campaign.
  • Maintain client satisfaction throughout the campaign.
  • Manage and mentor the SEO team members on a day-to-day basis.
  • Be an evangelist of SEO within GroupM and its operating companies and be proactive in sharing information.
  • Keep abreast of current search engine optimization strategies and methods.
  • Liaise with clients, internal account management and technical staff to ensure campaigns are managed effectively.
  • Develop and Improve SEO processes & procedures wherever possible.
  • Commercial experience and awareness, contributing to finance procedures and client pitch / proposal materials.


What you will need:

  • Strong written and spoken communication skills in English.
  • Fluency in both written and spoken Chinese (Written: Traditional & Simplified) (Spoken:  Mandarin & Cantonese).  Fluency in additional regional languages is highly advantageous.
  • Track record of managing SEO as a channel and a track record of delivering results, preferably across the Asia Pacific region markets, especially within China.
  • Deep familiarity with the core strategies used for SEO, in particular technical optimization, as well as keyword research, content, linking, digital asset optimization etc.
  • Ability to work face-to-face with client teams is essential.
  • Web analytics experience is essential. Advanced configuration and analysis experience/certifications are desirable.
  • Web Development Skills – HTML, CSS, JavaScript and server-side scripting languages.
  • Understanding of common web server technologies, and popular content management systems, their limitations and how to work within these to achieve SEO requirements.
  • Ability to present and articulate the benefits of SEO recommendations to client teams and overcome common client-side “barriers” to implementation.
