Trading Manager – Media Lab, Australia

Overview of job
The Trading Manager works with the Director to manage the implementation planning and investment across all offline media channels. Coordinating the response to briefs, the Trading Manager guides, challenges and inspires the work carried out by the team so that outstanding media solutions are produced, approved and translated into campaigns in response to client needs.

Measures of success –

In three months:

  • Develop collaborative working relationships with all Media Lab colleagues, media owners and client contacts
  • Understanding the processes and procedures of Media Lab and the client, understanding the needs of the client, working collaborative to plan and buy suitable media for all campaigns

In six months:

  • Building trusted relationships with the Media Lab team and client, having built credibility as reliable and responsive manager of the business
  • Coordinating and liaising with the client and team to effectively and accurately implement media solutions
  • Ensuring the highest standards of quality are being developed and implemented consistently and on time by the team

 

In 12 months:

  • First point of contact for all respective clients you deal on day to day basis
  • Writing and presenting the final and booked documents, post analysis documents for the client
  • Showing media knowledge and involvement by attending and contributing to weekly WIP meetings and presentations, along with the mentoring of junior team members

 

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Lead the Trading team and support the workflow and resource allocation within the team
  • Promote open, collaborative, supportive and dynamic relationships throughout the agency, media owners and the client
  • Manage and develop team members careers through regular coaching and constructive feedback
  • Respond well to guidance and feedback from the Director
  • Motivate the team to over-deliver against client expectations
  • Assist the Director to collaboratively work with other Media Lab teams to develop media solutions and initiatives to deliver the best work
  • Regular assessment of delivery against plan and ongoing negotiation of makegoods to balance shortfalls
  • Compile report of audience delivery against plan, expenditure, achievement of communication goals and campaign effectiveness; evaluation for application in future campaigns
  • Support the Director on all client contract negotiations helping to drive results for the client
  • Support the Director in leading the development of regular reporting reviews across the portfolio, including quarterly buying reviews, market updates and merchandising Media Lab performance across all their clients business
  • Keep abreast of media trends, audiences/readership, prices and opportunities and share knowledge and findings with your direct team and the wider business well as their application in planning/buying
  • Concern for quality and pride in all work produced. Consistently careful and methodical, with a strong eye for detail to ensure accuracy in all work delivered

  • Extensive experience across all off line media
  • Experience supervising and mentoring team members and workflow
  • High attention to detail and organisation skills
  • Open, honest working relationships with media owners
  • Competent with using media tools
