Overview of job
MEC is seeking an experienced and passionate Associate Manager who has a passion for trading and a can do attitude.
You would be responsible for buying all approved media, to support the Director and Manager in becoming the interface between MEC and the media whilst ensuring client campaigns are executed and amplified in a relevant and leading manner.
An opportunity to work on one of Australia’s largest FMCG companies, with a predominately TV/VOD focus, however all Clients have a strong interest in cross-platform, other engaging offline media and sponsorship opportunities.

Measures of success –
In three months:
- Started to build relationships with the Agency Executive team, key Client and Trading leads within MEC
- Establish a strong relationship with the media, clients and creative agencies
- Gains responsibility for buying across all media. Supports Manager with overall buying product and delivery of all campaigns within their client portfolio.
In six months:
- An active role in briefing the media owners
- In conjunction with the I&A Managers assists in the training and development of Analysts
- Begin to use and gain additional trading insights through GroupM Knowledge suite tools
In 12 months:
- Proactive in terms of highlighting any issues with the buy, media developments, trends or
Marketplace conditions that impact buying performance.
- Continue growth and further development opportunity
Responsibilities of the role:
- Accountable for the overall product and delivery of all campaigns within client portfolio. For example TV buying, R&F goals, TARP delivery, budget management, program access and quality parameters.
- Responsible for weekly tracking on all campaign parameters on all TV buys.
- Lead/share market knowledge as key channel champions with broader department and agency.
- 100% proficiency and accuracy with the financials, budget control, contract management, account queries, loading and proforma’s.
- Proactive with highlighting any issues with the buy, media developments, trends or market place conditions that impact buying performance.
- Ensures Analyst deliver on all key responsibilities.
- Key participant in I&A meetings, including reporting on latest insights for a particular media supplier/channel.
- Develop key relationships with the media, clients or creative agencies at a similar level to deliver benefits to the team and agency.
What you will need:
- At least 1 to 2 years TV buying experience (MTV, RTV & STV)
- Full knowledge of TV market
- Comfortable with TV optimisation tools (Opti8), E-Tam, BMD – Schedule Plus
- At least at an Intermediate Excel and PowerPoint level
- Strong attention to detail
- Organised and structured
- Ability to work well in a big group
- An interest in Online Video & screen trading
- To be keen to trade other offline media such as Magazines, OOH and Radio
- Passion for media and great attitude!
