MediaCom China are searching for an established Digital Director to lead the planning, buying, campaign and people management across one of our largest clients.

The client is in the auto category with substantial annual budgets that are now being led by digital, there is a great opportunity to plan and inspire digitally across all digital channels.

Overview of job 
As the digital lead on the business, you will be responsible for overseeing the digital strategy and managing the operational relationship on some of the most renowned and iconic auto brands in the world. This will involve driving best practice digital marketing solutions, while ensuring integration and communication with the planning teams across the brands. 

Reporting of the role

This role reports to the Head of Digital and the General Manager.

Measures of success – 

In three months, you would have: 

  • Been up to speed with client’s portfolios / value proposition and able to articulate this confidently
  • Demonstrate understanding of the client digital business using data to gain insight on business challenges
  • Understand the digital landscape for auto brands
  • Build relationships with the key decision makers at client side and within the company
  • Taken solid ownership of the digital product and built an understanding of how this can best benefit your clients in conjunction with the other media division experts you partner with

In six months, you would have:

  • Clearly understand our clients business and how digital and integrated planning can help to push their business forward. With actual cases of this being delivered.
  • Motivated, coached and uplifted team to perform new innovations, which win awards.
  • Been well recognized by key clients by demonstrating the digital leadership in terms of strategic planning, implementation etc.
  • Become a leader within the teams and someone that they look to for advice and support.
  • A trusted partner to the client. Someone that they turn to for advice and support on their business and planning needs.
  • Aligned key stakeholders internally and at client’s side on Digital strategy for each brands.

What you will need:

  • Minimum 6-7 years experience in digital media.
  • Experience managing a team of at least four people.
  • Understanding of the China media landscape.
  • Experience with both Brand and DR planning, buying and reporting.
  • A background in digital media, particularly display media.
  • Strong presentation and client management skills.
  • Understanding of data targeting, tracking, measuring and analytic is important.

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Client servicing, relationship management and demonstrating digital leadership across brands. 
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of client businesses and ensure digital strategies align with brands business objectives and needs. 
  • Not be restricted by limitations and connect with external partners on search, ecommerce and social monitoring and CRM to give a holistic digital view to the client
  • To plan and develop ideas for “media first” innovations and build capability in strategy. 
  • Be unafraid to push back, be bold and stand your ground in terms of ideas internally and externally.
  • Collaborate with core planning teams to ensure optimal integration of digital solutions in the overall brand plans, and ensure deployment of best-in-class digital implementation across brands. 
  • Grow team’s digital capabilities and develop sound long-term strategic plans for all the key brands. 
  • Develop and grow the digital talent within the teams. Including, hiring, mentoring, coaching and training.
  • Trusted advisor to the client. As a digital leader and director within the teams, the client will look to you for advice and your leadership across key planning pieces and strategic growth of their business.
  • Work with the Head of Digital to implement new digital initiatives and planning approaches into the planning work and teams.
  • Lead the digital planning across the teams to ensure that not only best in class digital is being strategically planning but also implementation is effective and outcomes are being met.
  • Be focused on delivering outcomes for the client, understanding what it is the client needs to achieve in sales targets and how we can do our part in delivering this through digital planning, KPIs and outcomes.
  • Work closely with the core team on all the reports, digital trainings/workshops. Including delivering digital innovation workshops to the client with the Digital Leadership team in MediaCom.
  • Think how we can deliver not only effective, but also award winning work on our client business. 
  • Become an expert at delivering efficient outcomes for the client. E.g understanding how to use data and programmatic to drive better KPI across the brands.
