Overview of job
The ASEAN Channel Planner & Media Excellence Leader is an integrated position where you will be working within a full service agency structure and being the main gate keeper of paid media strategy. You will be responsible for working as part of the regional strategy team, developing the paid media channel plan with the in-market media teams across the region.
Reporting of the role
This role reports to the ASEAN Head of Media.

- Work directly with the Comm’s Planner and creative team on complete through the line strategies.
- Responsible for the in-market media teams implementing central strategy and present directly to Head of Marketing & Sales at Ford ASEAN.
- Work directly with regional heads for Mindshare on the further development of programmatic planning and buying, including creative recommendations and the introduction of new media tactics/partners.
Measures of success –
In three months:
- Ability to manage markets on monthly/quarterly tasks and reports.
- Creation and presentation of at least 1 markets through the line channel plan with Comm’s Planner.
In six months:
- Have implemented at least 1 new/innovative media tactic or process within each market that has had a positive impact on the agency and client business.
- Have successfully taken control of relationship with key clients across the region.
In twelve months:
- Complete development of annual plans and link to brand success metrics.
- Report out cost savings and value add across the region in accordance to the annual review process.
Responsibilities of the role:
- Work closely with the regional integrated comm’s planner, creative teams and local media agency teams on annual plan strategies.
- Build channel recommendations that will determine media spend, budget allocation and lead annual media planning process with all local markets.
- Collect and analyze syndicated research, insights and share learnings with clients and teams.
- Use planning tools (i.e. 3D and task profiler) to build target insights on media usage.
- Recommend key measurement systems for campaign effectiveness.
- Programmatic; lead the usage of programmatic systems in local buying strategies.
- Development of improved uses of digital data.
- Lead digital partner development (i.e. Facebook, Google, Xaxis, etc…)
- Market coordination; managing the local media team questions, requests for help on implementing plans to strategy, reporting and general communications throughout the year.
- Quarterly cost improvement and added value reporting
- Manage any regional content proposals that should come up.
- Manage relationships with regional research partners, i.e. TNS.
- Work with Asia Pacific marketing analytics team in China.
- Case Study development for award submission.
- 8 years media planning experience working with major multi-national clients.
- Strong understanding of digital media strategy.
- Experience managing a team of 3 or more people.
- Ability to manage and create senior client relationships.
- Ability to manage a team’s work load and delivery of projects to deadline.
- Self-starter who can manage personal delivery of projects on time.
- Ability to present and communicate clearly to help other people understand his/her point of view.
- Demonstrates accuracy and attention to detail.
- Works well in a team setting, including along with CRM, creative and account management.
- Thrives in fast paced environment
- Working knowledge of syndicated tools
- Digitally savvy and interest in emerging technologies.
- An interest in the automotive industry is not a must, but would help in understanding the clients, the competitive landscape as well as the positioning of the brand globally as well as regionally.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Software (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
