Overview of job
MEC China is going through a period of rapid expansion and evolution in our capabilities, and we need a passionate, self-motivated strategic leader to lead integrated planning for our key clients based out of Beijing. You will be working with both iconic global brands, and emerging Chinese innovators.
Reporting of the role
Your role will be a leadership role within MEC Beijing, reporting directly to the MD of MEC Beijing.

- Delivered a solid Annual Plan which tackles the communication challenges
Responsibilities of the role:
You will be responsible for:
- Leading communication strategy for key clients, founded in great consumer insight and delivering transformational ideas
- Securing trusted advisor status with our key clients, up to and including CMO / CEO level
- Driving digital & data adoption, in collaboration with our Digital specialists, such that we recommend the right digital acceleration strategies to our clients
- Building relationships with key stakeholders at the most senior level, especially with key creative agency partners
- Championing MEC Momentum (proprietary purchase journey research) thinking in order to put the consumer at the heart of our work
- Effectively managing the strategy team based in MEC Beijing
- Leading training for the planning teams in the Beijing office, including coaching planners & account teams to deliver great integrated planning responses
- Leading our strategic response for key new business pitches
- With client leads, contributing to client growth plans, in order to drive client growth
- Developing effective working relationships with the MEC China specialist team, based in Shanghai
- Being a key part of the MEC China strategic community, contributing thinking, support and helping build a motivated team
- Driving quality of agency output outside of day to day planning responses through white papers, award entries and thought leadership projects
- Supporting the MD of MEC Beijing to build an effective management team
What you will need:
- Experience of planning across multiple categories, brands essential – China experience essential
- Media / communication or digital agency experience essential, multiple discipline background preferred
- Ability to design and implement effective communication planning processes
- Strong digital knowledge or digital background essential
- Demonstrate exceptional strategic & critical thinking and effective problem solving skills
- Consistently exhibit natural curiosity and dynamism
- Effectively work collaboratively
- Proven record of building client relationships
- Exceptional presentation, verbal and written communication skills
- Team leadership experience essential
- Appropriately and openly participate in team, agency, and industry initiatives
- Excellent written & oral English & Mandarin essential
