Position at MEC

As Business Director, you will drive the successful smooth running of an account, smarter media solutions, the integration of all the relevant business areas offered by the company, and the profitability of that business.  It requires strong leadership, cutting edge negotiation ability, communication and management skills coupled with control of many delegated tasks.

Reporting of the role

This role reports to the General Manager.

Measures of success –
SMART goals will be agreed with you based on specific client portfolio as part of on-boarding process.

In three months:

  • Actively lead strategic and media planning for your client portfolio
  • Be responsible for client, agency and company network relations
  • Ensure your team members are meeting objectives and adhering to job specifications

In six months:

  • Positively developed client relationships, ensuring the highest possible level of client service and product delivery as measured through client feedback and evaluation
  • Planned, directed and managed team structure and resource allocation across your team and for each client to ensure optimum and adequate resource for each client

In 12 months:

  • Play an active role in the development of the agency culture
  • You will be able to understand, engage and collaborate with the network of local, regional and global resources within MEC and GroupM

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Regularly presented work to clients and showcased internally as best practice
  • Challenge the status quo with the client and internal teams to provoke development of the client business
  • Input and manage performance goals in PDP employee review system for individual members of your team
  • Hold regular discussion and appraisal with team members regarding their progress
  • Ensure regular and open dialogue with all people in your teams and have a clear view of their career progression capabilities
  • Be an advocate of creative media thinking to all members of the team
  • Ensure all members of team attend and complete all relevant company training courses
  • Seek and drive new business opportunities for company at every opportunity
  • Have frequent contact with senior level media owners to facilitate company profile and in the development of initiatives

What you will need:

  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience across a broad range of clients preferred but not essential
  • Degree level education
  • Exceptional leadership, business and interpersonal proficiency
  • Prior thriving managerial experience
  • Possess commercial awareness and demonstrated business acumen
  • Possess good verbal and written communication skills as well as strong selling skills
  • Possess sound financial management skills
  • Conduct all business relationships in an efficient, courteous and straightforward manner
  • Ability to resolve any issues in a consistent, fair and objective manner
  • Possess thorough market and industry knowledge – historical and current - and to identify opportunities for client and agency
  • Can demonstrate thorough client knowledge – also client’s market and competitors information
  • Have top-line knowledge of the broader picture – other markets and key clients
  • Proficient in both Chinese and English preferred
  • Be inquisitive, be open-minded and be brave.
